How to make relation with NIW?

Hi, there,
I am a ph.d candidate major in chemistry. I have about 20 publications, 2 patents, also award. I worked on petroleon oil recovery for 5 years before came to US. Now my research is about nanometer materials, should I talk my contribution on energy area?( oil recovery) or just focus on nonameter? How may recommendation letters should I have? are they all have to be native American? I want apply EB2 NIW. Please give me some suggestion. Any will be apperaciated.
 
focus on current work

you should focus on ur current work. With your qualifications, if you prepare your package well, should be no problem. I got My self-petition NIW approved recently, though I got a REF. One another thing is that you should state your strong commitment to continue working in your area after graduation. If you already got a job offer, that would be great. If not, that might be a REF. I applied when I was still in university, but finished my oral defense and got a job offer

The basic idea to relate your case with NIW is that your research project has relation with U.S. Government agencies/military/NIH/DOE/DOD, or meet the 7 general requirements of the NIW application.

I ordered the package and waiting for delivery. What is DOE and DOD? The other problem is how to make relation between my previous work and recently work. The previous work is oil recovery that can be related with energy. Semiconductor Qutumn dots can be related with new material or army, but my project hasn\'t been supported by army directly, could i describe their future relation?

I think the recommand letter, logic relation with NIW and cover letter should be important things for prepared package. Is that what you are meaning? I will definately work on chemistry, but recently can not get offer because I want to finish this ph.d thesis first. So, how to state strong commitment to continue working in my area? and which one? oil recovery or quantum dots?

You can come up with something convincing - just be creative! You are a PhD student, you can make a story and tie both of your areas in one. You say your first area is related to energy, and the second to new materials? Can you claim yourself as a specialist in new materials for industries A, B, C,... AND ENERGY!? (You know better the details.) Do some research, find some references that will COMBINE both of your areas. Make a story of how great you are being a nanometer material expert with a background in oil recovery. This will be definitely a unique combination of skills.

DOE and DOD and Army relation

Zhx:

DOE is Department Of Energy, and DOD is Department OF Defence.

If your project is not directly related with army, but you can find evidences and documents that your project/research have potential application or relation, you can mention them and it will count.
