How to make case inquiry to Miami local office

Well......ur exp was really very tough and it seems that many things didn't went smooth,

I pray and wish that it wouldn't hurt ur case, as friend I would like say have you heard that "Elephant has gone only tail has left :D " so in my opinion is u already have suffered and waited too long since many years, wait a cuople of months more, and ignore /avoid any situation that hurt u/ur case.

Think in this way if G.C has written in ur Luck it would come to you and noone can stop it. all u need more calm urself, I can feel after reading this that after ur visit u wouldn't be able to sleep well because of anger and frustration u received from there. put ur time in pray, practice ur faith, leave everyting on God/(whatever u believe). trust him, everything will be fine,

They want u to be angry, frusted, Don't let them win, be very patient, trust on God he is only who make things happen not we. :D . build ur faith and trust unshakeable on him and see the magic. :D

Good Luck

NIce work, it seems you got some progress. At least you will get a interview
pretty soon.

Please notify me about your interview later.

Good luck!

POJ,
I have no anger. I actually feel better after going to see them. I found it very therapeutic to dump my confusion on them. I will keep returning until they give me an interview.

Hopefully my experience will give some insight to people who are waiting in Miami forever.

I am thinking about hiring a lawyer "A" to deal with Miami Office.

In fact, I fired this lawyer "A" 3 years ago because he had screwed up
both my and my friend's (working for the same company) Labor application, wasted me 1 year of precious time when green card could be done pretty quick.

So I used another lawyer "B" based in Chicago who did my Labor and 140
at reasonably good speed and filed 485 on March 2002.

After 900 days wait my case transferred to Miami on July 2004. From that
time, I did case inquiry by national customer center, my current lawyer and
tried several congressman and nothing happend.

Recently I read a article about this Lawyer "A" fighting for rights on behalf of
some Latino refugee. And seems like "A" has some internal connection with
Miami Local office.

So I called him today and asked if he can help with his internal connection and
said yes, also he touted that he has good connection with Miami local office and meet with its staff regularly.

But he charges 325 dollars for the intial consultation and will charge more later. I am gonna ask my boss for reimbursement this afternoon.

Do you guys think it is worth to get this lawyer on my case? Or you think
it is a total waste?

No, $325 is for initial consulting. He will charge more later and I still
don't know how much until I meet him this Thursday

George, how's your opinion about hire a lawyer for this special purpose.
Thanks!

Maybe its worth a shot. I know my lawyer also claims to have a close relationship with the officers at the Miami office. He told me that he cannot go make an inquiry until at least 6 months have passed since the case was received in Miami. This is probably an agreement that he has with the Miami office so that he does not come and ask about for every case, but rather only visit when there is an extreme need to help the case get moved up.

Since my case was transferred from TSC in May 2004, and it was received in Miami in August 2004, that would mean that I have to wait until February 2005 until my lawyer is willing to speak to the Miami office about why my case is still pending without an interviedw. That's not very encouraging, so I've taken it upon myself to go visit them regularly.

Hi, George

I bet you live in Miami because it sounds to me that you don't mind
come to the CIS office regularly.

I just don't know what will this lawyer say during the first consulting
meeting. FOrtunately my boss agreed to pay the fee so I will try my luck
this THursday

I just don't understand why we have to make trick to get correct and useful
information from a CIS officer. Aren't they the same as those guys working in
city hall, driver license office or police office?

People working at city halls, DMV and police offices etc are normal clerks. They are doing their boring jobs day after day, they have to listen to all other people coming with their meaningless stupid problems... They laugh, they get nervous and angry, and every day most of them are just waiting for the day to end, so they can go home to their families and TVs. Their job requires no brain... But - it is mostly visible to the public, and these clerks have almost no power... Well, if you upset them, you can get in some trouble - they might hurt your credit score, or even send you in front of judge in the court. But that's how much power they have... You're presumed innocent for them, as for any civil and criminal law, and they have to prove otherwise...

In case of immigration law, you're guilty unless you can prove that you're not. Imagine the same people (you're right - they are really the the same guys) doing their brainless boring job - but with power to ruin your life. Covered by the processing backlog they can do nothing for months or even years, there's almost no public control over what they do, and general public - most of the Americans - do not care since it doesn't affect them... In this situation, bored CIS officers, tired of losing papers between folders, have nothing else to do other then playing with other people's lives - just to entertain themself... I am sure most of them don't even realize what they're actually doing - it's subconscious sense of power that rules them, while they feel a huge resposibility for keeping this country free of terrorists and welfare recepients...

Of course, I don't think that all USCIS clerks are like that. In fact, my experience with TSC was not bad at all. But it makes me sick to see how other people are getting screwed, and have no way to even find out what's going on. Anyway, good luck to all of you who have to deal with this (mildly say) imperfect system...

Just met a new lawyer and he said he will contact Miami local office
during his next visit and will try to push them to schedule an appointment
for me.

Let's see what will happen

my lawyer told me the he cannot make an inquiry until 18 months have passed since the transfer date. What kind of a bullshit answer is that!? I think its time for me to get a new lawyer.

I got my lawyer to make a case inquiry in person. He met with the director of the Miami office, and said that my case won't be touched for another 6 months due to the current workload, but it could be longer.

This is not good news.

Hi CuriousGeorge,

I read your conversation with the lady. If you ask me, you sounded little bit rude not angry. I know one thing if you want to get your work done sometime you have to kiss the ass of wrong person. And no sooner you turn abuse her to the fullest in your heart of heart.
Hope I don't hurt your feeling. Please don't mind.
