how to invite my parents to visit?

Dear all,

I'm trying to invite my parents to visit for a couple of months. But the US embassy requires my immigration status. What should I provide? If I provide the approval letter, will I or my parents get trouble?

Thanks all for your answers!

07302001,

According to your listed status information, you are still considered as an asylee until your I-485 gets approved. From my experience, Asylees don't have the right to invite any one. Only US citizens and Permanent residents are eligable for that.

I did invite my mother in 2001, i sent them a copy of EAD, she had no problem, but when my dad wanted to visite me, he had some troubles. i had to call the US emabassy and talk to an agent there.
RAsylee, if you read this message. i sent you a messaage (PM) three differnt attempts and it bouced back, it says mailbox is full.

Cider_Or,

Thanks for bringing the mail box full thing to my attention. I was not aware of it, I have deleted lots of old stuff there and that should clear up some space.... Sorry for any inconvineance...

Regards,

my mom was here couple of times, no problem. Just fill out affidavid of support, send your bank statement for last 12 months and that is enough (at least in my case). Never had any problems ...

First of all, no one has the "right" to invite anyone per se.

Second, anybody here, citizens, permanent residents, refugees/asylees, or even people on student/HIB/L/whatever else temporary visas can issue an invitation to someone to visit. Your status is not important. All they are concerned about is if the prospective visitor can finance the trip and (this is critical) is likely to leave the country at the end of the trip.

Indeed, if you are well-to-do enough and have sufficient ties to your country, you do NOT need anyone to invite you. You can apply on your own.

I would agree with Gilbert. Nobody asked my mom about me and my status. She needed affidavid of support and she had to show the proof that she will be back (title of the house we own in our country was sufficient). And of course, my bank statement which clearly shows that I can support her. That's it.
