How to improve chances of H1B to F1

Hello,
I was on 2 different F1's for 6 years (undergrad and grad) and then on a H1 for 6 years. However, I have spent the last year and a half of my H1 in my home country of India. I now want to pursue an MBA starting Fall 2007. I have heard that it is easier to get my status converted to student while in the USA rather than going through the consulate (Chennai). However, I would like to spend the next year out of the country so that I can reset my H1 clock, because otherwise I would have to leave the country after an MBA anyway. Can anybody share their experiences with changing back from an H-1 to an F1 in Chennai? What can be done to increase the chances of visa approval? Any information is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

You have long history of US stay. With I 20 from a reputed school you can able to get your F1 very easily.
