I just want to share this kind of experience to back China next year.

I am not sure I understand this sentence.

But in response to your original question, it is somewhat debatable if a Chinese asylee without a green card should be in HK. I think it is OK but contrary opinion exists in the legal community.

In any case you will need a visa you are using a RTD. You should apply for a visa directly from the HK government in HK rather than the PRC embassy here.

If you are using a RTD then HK requires a visa. I strongly advise you against using your PRC passport b/c it will open a whole can of worms for your US asylum case. I do not think the fact that you might get a brief visa free entry into HK with your prc passport is worth that serious risk. Get your visa from the hk immigration department directly. They are highly competent and efficient.

Nobody knows the effects of a Chinese asylee visiting HK on his asylum status and eligbility for his green card. HK is just a unique situation. I feel that a very strong case can be made that it should be NO problem in light of the dynamics of the present HK-PRC relations.

You do not have to go the chinese embasssy. You can apply by mail with the hong kong government. If you claimed persecution by China on your asylum story, you should avoid dealing with the commie diplomats.
