What to do for a visiting nephew from India for US wedding - Visa questions!!?!?!?!
I'm a US citizen. My fiancee is an Indian National. We will have a private court wedding (March) and later (Sept) a public big, catholic wedding. We want to invite his 13 y/o nephew. Our questions:

To which should we invite him to that is better odds for him to get a visa?
Which B visa does he need?
What documents will he need that shows he'll return to India and avoid US rejecting his visa?
What should I (the US citizen) write/prepare in the invitation letter?

Thanks!

it would be a cakewalk, just show that the parents are staying back home and the kid is doing school there, that should be enough for a minor to prove intentions of not staying .

wishes for a gr8 life togather

B-2 visas are self-sponsored. The child's parents should apply for the child. You do not need to take any action, except send an invitation card.

Is there specific verbiage I should state, or NOT state, in the invitation that would help, or hurt, the chances?

Chances all depend on how well 214(b) is overcome. For a minor child travelling without his parents, overcoming 214(b) should not be that difficult. Thus what action you take, if any, really does not matter.

When he comes, be sure to have proper documents to get emergency medical treatment in the event of an accident. US hospitals and doctors have very strict requirements for authorization of cares to minors.

I think that the others are giving you good advice. However, do understand that there is only one 'Wedding' - the one that is registered with the civil authorities (in your case the private court wedding).
So, if you want to invite him for your wedding it'll have to be for March. (The one in Sept is a 'ceremony' - not a wedding - but you can invite him for that instead if you so choose)

In the letter to the 'Visa Officer', you'll need to cover the following:
1. Explain your relationship with your nephew/his parents/etc
2. That you are responsible for all expenses for your nephew during his visit (I think there's an 'affidavit of support' for this)
3. That you ahve the means to support your nephew (Paystubs/Employment Letter/Bank statement)
4. That your nephew will carry travel medical insurance to cover any medical expenses.

If you expect the visit to be longer than a week or two, prepare everyone on how to answer the question on how the visit may impact his schooling (especially if it is for March as it is awfully close to Finals).

Good Luck and Best Wishes.

I have to respectfully disagree. The child's parents should be responsible to prove that they have the means to pay for their child's trip. Dependance on an uncle can be seen as an incentive to staying back in the US.

2. That you are responsible for all expenses for your nephew during his visit (I think there's an 'affidavit of support' for this)
