As long as the reason for the issuance of the EAD is still valid - the reason in your case being pending adjustment of status so it is - you are authorized to work. You cannot force an employer to hire you though. It doesn't sound like your employer is very familiar with EADs? Anyway now you have a valid EAD (even if your employer doesn't understand it) you are free to look for work elsewhere too.H1B aside, I think it was a confusion.
Can the employer deny hiring me now as I have the EAD without a "valid visa, but only AOS"? I thought all what I need is the EAD to work?
