How to get a US passport?

What is the procedure to get an american passport? We\'ll receive the birth certificate for our newborn soon, and would like to prepare her passport. Please let me know the turnaround time for the process. Thanks in advance.

Passport..

Congrats on your new born.

1. Print the application for passport from the net.
2. Take Photo\'s of your daughter.
3. Write two cheque\'s (It is mentioned in the application).
4. Submit it to the Post Office which can accept Passport Applications.
5. You have to submit the original birth certificate along with the application.
6. It take 4-6 weeks to get a Passport.

Thanks for your reply. Could you tell me the url where I could download the passport form. Will the form have info as to what size etc the photograph sould be?

Also, you mentioned that I sould submit the original birth certificate. In that case should I order 2 original birth cets, or I sould order more that that?

Go through this site. This has everything you need.

You can just order 1 original birth cert. You just submit them along with your application. They will return your original birth cert. along with the passport.
