Hi everyone

We moved to a new house this weekend. Our I 140 is approved few month back and I 485 is pending (EB3). We both have EAD and travel documents.

-- How many place do we have to notify about the change of address ( H1B, EAD, i140, I485 etc etc) and what form we have to use.

-- Can we do ourself or do we have to contact the lawyer about this.
-- If we can do ourself, can anyone tell me the form names or phone number to do this. and any other helping information

you need to fill in the AR11 from (Google it). That should be the only place you have to do it. Consult your lawyer though

if your case is transferred to local office, then you'd better make an appointment through InfoPass and face to face talk to the officer for change of address in their system. Even if you file ar-11, you still need to contact local office. That's from my experience.

Hi Buzz,
Are u emplyement based GC applicant?
I might be moving to a new place real soon
My case has been transfered to NYC
Had the interview too
but stuck in retrogression
Whats ur experience with address change?
How long do they keep the case files in Local Office
after the interview for cases affected by retrogression?
Does any one know?
Now that the cut off date is rolled back so far behind
do they ever send these files back to VSC?

Any one with similar experience pls share

1.You need to file the form AR11 (and it will NOT change your address on Pending petitions with USCIS)
For pending I-485 you need to talk to NCSC 1800 3755283 and provide them Name, I-485# A#, DOB, new address, past address and also write letter to service center where I-485 is pending make a request to change your address on pending I-485# provide I-485# ,DOB A# also provide your past address and NEW address and attach copy I-485 filing receipt and mail it to service center with certified mail.
I-140 is employer petition you don’t need to do anything

address change

How do I know that case is transfered to Local office. Only pending item is 485. We are on EB3 and labour was applied in 2003, if that helps.

------------ change the address on pending I-485 as I wrote in earler post

When the I-485 is transferred to local office your lawyer gets I-485 Transfer notice, if no lawyer represent you then you directly get the transfer notice AND the online status will also change and will show that I-485 file was transferred to Local office XXX on… only few I-485 are transferred to local office

yes, mine is employment based GC too. It's now in I-485 pending status due to visa unavailability and name check. Incidentally my case was transferred from VSC to NYC back last year or earlier, because I have no idea when it was xferred, but I got interview on 3/18/04. I was not approved due to the fact my wife and kid's case were not there. However on 8/26/05 we were again called upon for interview or RFE as a matter fact for missing I-89 cards. DAO officer came up to me saying everything is fine, but no visa no name check is done etc.

Hope you are not moving to another state, otherwise transferring & processing your case will take very long long time. As you can see from my first interview to second interview it nearly took 18 months. During that time I visited local office three times for the status and also wrote many letters but got nothing. Talking about the experience for changing address, I have to say the red and tape is always there. I went to office and face to face changed the address, but when I got the second interview letter they still use my old address. But fortunately I have a friend neighbor still live there and got the letter for me, so did my attorney.

I believe once the files are in the local office, they will stay there till processed.

Hi
Did u have a formal second interview with all family
the second time too?
Why did they have to call for a 2nd interview?
Did u meet the same officer?
Did you go through the same procedure?
How do u meet up with the officer face to face
just to change the address?
Thanks

Please slow down man, I have to collect my thoughts :)
ok, yes with all family member at second interview.
As I said earlier they sent out the interview letter, but mentioning the reason to be missing I-89 cards and other documents. So we went there and hope to get the interview. The lady at the counter took all finger prints on I-89 cards and asked us to wait. After 15 mins, the district adjudicate officer (DAO) (different officer from first time, I guess he is so busy taking care of all cases) called us and asked us to wait outside and he said he was going to check something. After abt 10 mins, he went outside and came up to me and my attorney when my wife went downstairs to copy something (stupid attorney wasting my 20 bucks for asking copies and in fact they were useless) said "Everything is fine, gentlemen, but no visa and besides name check is not done yet". Shaked hands and singled us that we could leave now.

So it was a very unpleasant interview and very informal so to speak. But I guess it was not to our surprise because we know no visa.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain clearly. The officer for changing our address wan't the really officer for adjudicating the case, rather than a lady at the counter. Don't know if she can be called officer as I sometimes saw she is wearing the uniform. If you used infopass before you should know you could only talk to those female "officer" at the counter.
