How to apply for AP

Hi
I need to apply for Advance Parole . Can anyone tell me if i can do it on my own or do i need an attorney to apply. Also if I can apply on my own please tell me how to proceed , what documents are needed and any other information .
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You do not need an attorney. Documents needed are listed in the application instructions. Download I-130 form BCIS website.

I am guessing you meant I-131 and not I-130. I-130 is for petition for a relative.

Hi poornima_p,

tooOldtoWait is correct you need to submit I-131 form, which is "Application for Travel Document". Go to
http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-131.htm to downlaod this form. You will find lot of information on this website, like what all documents are needed etc. You do not need an attorney, you can apply for Advance Parole on your own.

Will it do any good if i attach a covering letter with my application?
Also if anybody applied , please tell me specifically what documents you attached and how long did it take for INS to issue travel document.

Documents that are needed...

I applied myself for AP and got in exactly 1 month (mentioned in a separate thread). The documents I submitted along with the I-131 application are,

1) 2 photographs
2) First 2 pages of the passport
3) Copy of I-94 front & back
4) copy of I-485 receipt
5) A covering letter stating the approximate month and reason for travel
6) Personal Cheque

Applied for Multiple entry and got 3 sets of AP.

(there are a few other people who have mentioned about the documents in this site, so you can search them too)

they have a writable form in pdf format. so you can fill the form online and take a printout.
