How soon I can apply for citizenship?

AmIright?

Folks:

I am sure some one may have already raised this question, but I could not search for it.

I am Permanent Residence since "12/19/03". When I can apply for my citizenship?

Thanks
MR

Under normal circumstances, if you meet all the eligibility requirements, you can apply for citizenship 90 days before 12/19/08. Have a look at the Guide to Naturalization: www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf
Just one piece of advice: don't cut it too close on the 90 day window - wait a couple of additional days (3 - 5 days) beyond the 90 day mark and then mail your application. There are instances of USCIS rejecting applications that are literally right on the edge of the 90 day window.

Yes, for rule of thumb I would enter the date in a spreadsheet and subtract 85 days, that would give you a pretty safe date to sign/date and ship your application. Remember not to date your application too early just in case.

Double check yourself but I get a date of 9/25/2008 for your case. That's 85 days before 12/19/2008. You still have plenty of time to double check my math ;)

Good advice. And remember that it appears to be the date on which the application and check were SIGNED that is important. Don't sign your application two weeks before you send it. Wait until 85 days, then sign everything and then mail it. Good to ask for return receipt (green tags at the post office) so you can confirm they got it, or alternatively you can send via priority mail and track it online and get proof of delivery. Always leave yourself a paper trail when you're dealing with these turkeys, even if it costs a little more. You never know when you might need it...
