Hi All,
I am writing this email on behalf of my father. He is 60 yers old and has a green card, He recenly got married again and his wife is in India. What is the best/fastest way of getting her to USA. We already applied for her visitor's visa, but was unfortnately denied. So sponsoring her green card is the only way. My father is here with me in USA to continue his GC, I would love to have my mother also with me. I am gueeing the steps would be to submit I-130 and then go for consular processing. Where can I find the current processing times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thank.

It will take 2+ years after filing I-130 to get a green card for her. Being a spouse of a green card holder, she will come under the family F2A category which is currently backlogged to Feb 2010 (which means those who filed I-130 in Feb 2010 can now get proceed to file paperwork to get green cards, takes additional 4-6 months).
There is no other/faster way, unless your father becomes a US citizen, in which case there is no backlog for spouse's green card and the entire process can be completed in 6-9 months.

His current wife and your mother are two different people, correct?

Are you a US citizen? If yes, how old were you when your father married his current wife?

How did your father get his GC -- employment? A sibling sponsored him? Or another family member? Did he get his GC before or after getting married?

Depending on your answers to the above questions, there may or may not be options to bring his wife to the US quickly.

I am a citizen, I sponsored my father. I am 36 and he recently got married.

I think filing for 130 is the only option which will take abt 3 years.

We were also thinking on this line -
Since my father does not enjoy US life anyways and it is kind of costly to fly to US on yearly basis, My father is ready to surrender his GC and get 10 yrs visa, then my mom will apply for visa.. hopefully she will get the visa. That way we dont have to worry about GC continuity headache etc..

Any inputs?

Thank you for all other replys guys..

Which person are you talking about -- your actual mother, or your stepmother (father's current wife)?

You can sponsor your mother as an immediate relative, just like you sponsored your father.

But you can't sponsor your stepmother, because she married your father after you turned 18. She would have to be sponsored by your father (while he still has his own GC, of course), or another eligible relative or employer.
