It looks like if your online status disappear change to not found, then means your file has been transfer from service center to local DO, and your IV letter will follow up. May I know what is your PD and FD?
But one things happen for my friend, he passed IV for GC on Nov, 2004 and need wait for background check. His online status shows pending case. He can't bear to wait that long, last month set infopass, noted actually his case be granted on May, 2005(ONE YEAR BEFORE) but never updated online.

Absolutely non-reliable. Some case numbers never show up in the system, some show up with mistakes in them, and some never get updated. I got my NOA for N-400 with priority date as of June 13 (the day it was received by CSC), but my on-line status was telling me my priority date is June 16 :)

what is your d.o?
my online account has always provided me accurate information, but it was just usefull to me only once...however like dani said there are times when messups occur..
but i would definitely give it a thumbs up!

Reliable !?
About as reliable as ENRON.
As with any Govt. system it is slow, back logged and often innacurate.

do not rely on the Onlne upate to keep you informed as to the exact progress of your case,

I would rely more on notices you recieve in the mail.

The online update sometimes is updated without a change of status.

We all have a bit of anxiety and are very eager to see our case status progress, this is a waiting game and the best advice I have is use the info on this forum and find someone with similiar time line as you then you may have similair Priority dates and that will be a good guide as to the progress of your case.

Today I got my US passport in the mail. The online case status still says that my case can not be found.

You be the judge.

CONGRATULATIONS :)

Anyway, your Passport was processed by the Department of State...and I believe the OP asked about the on-line status from USCIS.

Base on my personal experience, Department of State = unreliable, USCIS =helpful and reliable.

Haha thats funny. Did you ever try calling the 800 number?

My wife called yesterday - waited over an hour for someone who couldn't help & said she was going to transfer her, but dropped the call instead. After calling back she got the finger from the next "helpful and reliable" USCIS employee who told her to call back after 180 days. From everything else I've read here, that sounds like fairly typical service.

Now I'm not saying all USCIS employees are unhelpful, surly or downright rude, as both our IOs were pleasant enough. But, its certainly been our experience that USCIS isn't the place you go if you want to feel good about life.

I am not sure if this happened with anyone else too but i have two cases under my online account:

1) I-130 for my husband
2) my own N-400

Last month, my N-400 status got updated but the date that they updated on the online status was for my I-130.. isn't that strange???
