How Patriotic act affects new asylum seekers?

After the approval of the patriotic act, some changes affecting asylum seekers are in place. Is the asylum process changing in any way?, is more difficult to receive asylum now a days than before? Why? Is the amount of asylum seeker decreasing over the time? Does someone has a first hand experience to share with us?

I think much more vital changes have occured after the Gongress passed Real ID ACT. However, the real changes we will observe after USCIS publishes its annual statistics on asylum and refugee.
