How much time for plastic card after stamping?

If u r going to stay on the Air-India flight in London or Paris, then we should be fine (except if they dont ask us to clean the flight) and not to worry about anything. YES,We can show the H1B visa to Air-India and they dont have a clue about it.

I also calledup Atlanta French consulate (#404-495-1660) and they said we dont need to have an Airport Transit Visa if we have I-551 PP stamping done without actual green card.

Guess going thru Paris should be fine. Merry Christmas!!!

Hey,
I got this response to my email enquiry. Says nothing about the I-551. Actually specifically mentions plastic card for GC or a valid visa. SO I dont' have a valid visa and have GC I-551 I guess that will not work.

See the below response from NY french embassy verbatim --

Bonjour,

You are exempt from the Airport Transit Visa to go through any french airport if;

- you have a valid Green Card (the actual card) and a layover of less than 6 hours in Paris
- you have a valid USA visa pasted in your passport and a layover of less than 6 hours in Paris

If not then you must apply for the Airport Transit Visa, you may get the visa on the spot (2-3 weeks by mail) if you submit all the
correct documents and copies.

See our website for more information, http://www.consulfrance-newyork.org/us/visas/airporttransit.htm

Merci,
DL.

I got this email few seconds ago.. second email from the NY consulate:
I asked very specific question : see below
====================================================

Bonjour,
No, you have to apply for an airport transit visa.

Merci,

> Hi,
>
> Is US ADIT stamp (I-551) in the passport considered a valid visa? This is the stamp they put in passport after permanent residence in US is granted. This is valid until an actual plastic card arrives and can be used to enter US. Is this good enough for travel through French airport at Paris? I'm stopping only for 2-4 hrs at airport.

immi_09,

Thanks. Even I got the same response through e-mail asking to apply for Airport transit visa from NY French consulate.

I am kinda confused.

Thanks again.

guys, I am going on Tuesday, id air india let me sit it is good else i will come back, now one has correct answer, it is a mess.

After stamping, they did not take out h1b stamp from the passport, so i will show it to air india guys, and try to go, if they won't allow then i will come back but i am just tired of this game now.

It is been long time i have not been at home, haven't seen my mom, i am a single guy living here and wanna see my family, so i will on tuesday.

Regarding Transit Visa

We went to French consulate(NewYork) for Transit Visa.

First thing he checked our passport and he said we do have valid H1B. This case we no need Transit Visa.

Most of friends went through Air India via Paris. Passengers no need to get down and go to the Airport termial. Basically flight lands in Paris for hour for refueling.

These Frenches are iditos. They don't treat well.

1000% agree with u, they are real bad, they do not treat well, u call them, within 10 mins they will give u 3 different answers.

My travel agent told me that all this transit visa thing is crap as you mentioned sen01 AI would not let you out of plane, so there is no freaking Q of transit visa, god, UK is doing same thing, all this crap for transit visa,

as far as AI's concenr, they are saying that if you have h1b stamped, then we do not care abt h1b.

Though I do not have my i-94 card as they took it when they stamped my PP but i have another one which INS gave with h1b approvl letter, i will give it to Authorities on the airport.

every one, have a safe trip and enjoy your time out.....have fun :D :D :D
