How much money would you need to have saved up on average?

If you're 19, have finished two years of college, how much money would you need to have in your bank account to prove to them that you're capable of supporting yourself? How much money would a European family of three need on average? How does the job thing work, do you just send applications and show them you have a job interview once you're at the visa interview? Or do you need to go to the US and apply for jobs before you get the Green Card/Visa?

125% of poverty line. ~17.000$. But no one didn't ask us to show "money".
Job offer is more then fine. You don't need to go anywhere just stay with green card process and you will be fine.
You don't any money as proof.

I think it depends on a combination of actors and it is also a subjection decision made by the CO.

If you have a higher degree and are from a developed country, have a good history etc...you may fare better than someone from a developing country who only completed high school...reason being the former would be more likely to secure a high paying job.

The main thing is to show that you won't be a burden if admitted. If you have a job lined up and a sponsor but not a lot of money saved up, you would probably be fine. Even without the sponsor if you could demonstrate you would easily get a job somehow or would be able to earn a lot of money before immigrating you would also probably be fine.

Again, as long as you can make a good case that you won't be a public charge, that is the most important thing.
