How Much Gap Is Allowed Between Two Consecutive Jobs

Hi,

I got laid off on 6th April and will be on the payroll till 4th June. I also have two weeks of vacation left with this company. So effectively, I will be paid till 18th June. Will i be considered out of status on 4th or 18th? Also, if i find a job, what is the latest date by which i need to start working so that i am not out of status?

I have been talking with this new company who will be asking me to fly over to califofornia (i'm in pennsylvania) next week (around 24th/25th). So, even if they make me an offer and i accept and we file for an H-1 transfer, i will not be able to start by June 4th.

Please advise.

Do not make your own calculation for few days. Try to join as soon as possible. Delay may make you out of status. Now you are fine as far as INS approve your H1 transfer
