How many times is the name check done?

Does anyone know how many times the name check is done? I got a fax today from the FBI in reference to my query for name check. It seems that my name check was done in Dec 2002. I still haven’t received any RFE or Approval yet. Is my name check going to be done again (like FP)? Please advice.

If I know correctly, there are two types of name checks. The FBI namecheck is done only once during the GC process and if that is cleared (along with the Fingerprint) ... there's no more business with FBI.

USCIS runs its own name checks (called IBIS checks) for each case and these results are valid for 90 days each time. If by any chance, the officer does not finish working on your case within these 90 days, he has to request the same IBIS check again before approval.

Lately, I have seen some posts about a CIA name check ... which I know nothing about!
