How many photos for I-485?

You need 2 for 485.

If you are applying for EAD then you need another 2 for that.
 
Then I dont understand..

INS askes 2, why we send 8? I know 2 for 485, 2 for EAD and 2 for AP. Did your lawyers explain why 8?
 
you need one duplicate set.

I saw this somewhere in some explanation document from local INS (NYC) but I am not sure. Anyway, I sent in a duplicate set of my photos which was 4 photos in total. (I did not apply EAD/AP at that time).
 
You need 2 for I-485 and 2 each for AP and EAD if you are also applying for them

****Also don\'t forget to write your full name, date of birth and SS# on the back with PENCIL****. This will ensure that the correct photo is on the EAD/AP etc.

Need another 2 when you go to have your passport stamped.

This is based on my experience upto last wendsday.

485 - 2 photos, EAD - 2 photos, AP - 2 photos. Sometimes the lawyer asks for 8. He keeps the 2 photos just incase INS sends an RFE for improper photos, the lawyer can send these to save some time. This is what my lawyer told me.
