How Many IV interviews per day ?

Folks,

Any idea roughly how many IV interviews happen in a day at the US Consulates in India, say Chennai ??.... this is purely out of curiosity as my Consulate for CP interview is Singapore and they seem to do just 1 or 2 interviews per day. There are 2 ways to interpret this - 1) IV interview traffic is low here or 2) There is a lot of inefficiency at the Consulate that could result in securing late interview dates.

Anyway, would appreciate your comments.

Thanks,

RK

Well, let's see -
two years in labor, 8 months in I-140 and 6 more months to get to the consulate. Spent lots of money, time and mental torture.

So the interview date? At last we see the shores and there is the eternal waiting for us.
Waiting for more month? no problem, just give us the card.

Finally, get the card and they are telling me that jobs are already outsourced so goto india now, duh!

RK:

Roughly about 45-50 a month for Chennai and about 35-40 for Mumbai and N.Delhi. This has been the average for last 3-4 months. These numbers are purely case numbers for only employment based immigrant visas(EB category). Now one needs to understand that there may be multiple candidates getting interview on a single case number {like myself and my wife and kid(if any)}. And trend has been at least in India that employment based visa interview are scheduled after the 2nd week of the month tp provide for enough time to buy tickets and travel home, although there are some exceptions!

Well jobs are moving to india but if you read Harvard Journals, Time Magazines or daily technology related newspapers then you will realize soon those jobs that are currently going to india are also slowly moving to china, malaysia and some eastern european countries!

I hear you! The time has come to master some international languages (not programming languages for a change) ...not sure about anyone else but i have started that process! It may be a good idea to take on 1-2 additional international languages of choice! One just needs to face it and take it with a positive stride! Although it is going to be difficult but I have decided to embrace and face it rather than ignore it!

I think the best place to live for us other than US is India itself. Had its not for the dollar value I would have gone home and watch some movies.

I could'nt agree more with you guys. I have a few friends here(US Citizens), who went through , what we are going through many many years ago. (as long as 40 years for one famly). Most of them, are professionals(Engineers, Doctors Phds, just like majority of Indian immigrants in the US) . some of them make a 'LOT OF $$$', while some of them enjoy being 'Laid-off'.
But, looking at their plight after all these years, I some times wonder if 45:1 ratio worth more than NONE:LIFE+LOVING CHILDREN+FAMILY+PARENTS+SOCIAL-LIFE+......(All with values).

Just a thought. Now bash me ;)

I don't mean to say to go back or things are better in india.

For me, life in US like an investment. Had a great education, thought to cash it as much as possible but when I am ready the bus already gone! I mean the software boom.

Well, enjoying movies, relatives, native language we already did that for 25 years are so. All we need now is to live like a man!

I totally agree with you, imihelp.
45:1 ratio is the only thing holding people back here.
I met couple of guys in temple last week, who are opting to goto their branch banglore (synopsys). They are getting nice offers ( ~ 1 million Rs per annum + insurance + relocation assistance ). So, If we think about life-style..it would be almost same as what we are getting here +++ u get to live near ur family/friends/food/festivals...and much relaxed environment...no hassle of H1/L1--DOL--BCIS :)

There is a lot in a life to do !!

Life is not only to catch the same bus. There are number of things you can do .. say
1) catch the next bus and reach the same destination.
2) be advanturous and catch a bus which take different route to reach the same destination. OR
3) be more advanturous and reach to new destination alltogether.

And there are number of other ways you can live like a MAN !!

peace ..
