It will take as long as it takes. I have seen H-1 transfers (not premium processing) approved in 4 days. I have also seen H-1 extensions take 10 months. The longest I have ever seen any H-1 take is 13 months with 2 RFEs and a Notice of Intent to Deny.
We could average the times out and come out with a normal processing time that is published by USCIS, but an average is just that, your case may not be adjudicated within what is considered "normal". It may be faster, or slower.

i am working as a intern in a company and they are applied for H1 .
my H1 -( STANDARD APPLICATION - NEBRASKA ) application reached USCIS on 10th sep .
I have to reach india on 21st dec .
What should i do if i dont get my H1 approval by that time .
can i come back to usa on the basis of my OPT ?
