How many application(s) [N 400]

One application for each member of your family over 18 years of age.
1 N-400 application for each qualifying member of the family 18 years of age or older. 1 N-600 application for each qualifying member under the age of 18. Bare in mind that certain offices or service center do not process both so review the instructions on both applications on USCIS before mailing them out.
I checked N600 form for filing US Citizenship for the children and it stats that this application is to be filed for the child who is less than 18 years of age and have at least one of the parent as US Citizen. As of now all four of us including 2 children below 18 have Green Card and have born in India. Do we need to file N400 or N600 for the kids???
You don't have to file anything for your children at this time. When you and your spouse become citizens your children automatically become citizens without requiring any paperwork. At that time you can directly apply for their US passports.
N-600 is for obtaining an alternate proof of citizenship and IMHO it is not worth the money and troubles if you get passports.

Apply for yourself and your spouse first. Your children (being below 18 years old) will automatically inherit citizenship upon you becoming citizens. Actually one of you becoming a citizen is good enough for your children to inherit the citizenship. You can apply for their US passport using your citizenship certificate plus their birth cirtificate with your name listed as parent. However, if you want your children to explicitly have their own naturalization certificate, then you apply for it using N-600 form. I had both of sons inherit citizenship based on my naturalization 3 years ago. Never botherd about N-600 for them. I did not consider it absolute necessity. Your view may be different.
