How long?

I'm married to a USC and I sent all the documents (I-130, I-485, supporting docs, employment/AP application, etc) to the local service center in Seattle over 2 weeks ago. As of today, neither my checks have been cashed, nor have I rec'd a receipt or notice of action.
How long does it usually take for the application to be acknowledged that it was rec'd? I'm afraid that I'd be cutting it short, as my EAD based on OPT expires June 2.
How long should I wait for a notice before contacting somebody? If so, who should I contact?
Any input as to how I should procede would be appreciated.
 
Did you have any tracking for your application? If so, you would have a record at the least that it has reached them. If it has reached them, and you have not heard from them, I would say wait for another week before contacting them at the customer service number found in http://uscis.gov. Good luck.

Thanks. One more question:
Has anyone's package gotten returned because they made the checks payable to "Immigration and Naturalization Services" instead of BCIS/CIS?
