I was wondering how long do I need to stay with my current employer, who sponsored for GC, after the approval of 485. My case was approved about seven months ago. Is it safe time to leave my current employer?
Thanks a bunch
I have read at many places that you have to stay with you current employer for reasonable amount of time after getting the approval for 485. I am not sure what that reasonable time is? Is it six months or a year, or something else!!!!
Thanks
One year would be safe. Otherwise you know that at the time of GC renewal or application for citizenship you might face problems with INS.
You will be a free bird only if you fufill the intention of taking up a permanent job with the sponsoring employer which you claimed in your application for GC. Fufilling is to work for them for a reasonable time. Reasonable time again is relative. But going by experiance of seniors i understand that one year with sponsoring employer is safest.
A word with an attorney will surely help when you are in doubt.
