How long time can I stay outside US using AP? I was laid off.

I was laid off, I485 wac-01-297-5XXXX.
Can I use AP to stay out side US waiting for the final result?
If approved, go back. if RFE or interviw, abandon it.
This is a good idea or not?
 
dude...you have skills very similar to mine.

i would say don\'t give up. i tried for 2-1/2 months continuously and finally found something. try some of the job web sites. dice/monster/hotjobs and send your resume to each and every posting out there EVERYDAY. i can also give you some initial pointers to start with, of course if you are interested. post your email address and i will respond. one of my friends is declining an offer from some audio/video streaming company in sacramento. maybe you can use that.

well, unfortunately that friend of mine is giving another thought to that sacramento job as this new startup company that he has joined looks shaky.

How long you can stay after being laid off?

Doesn\'t mean to divert the focus of this discussion, but I have a relevant question. After being laid off, how long you can stay in US with H1 to find a new job. Is there any rule on that? I ever heard you have to get a new job in 10 days, which is not realistic. Can anyone shed me some lights on this issue? My company is pretty shaky also...

GreenPoint you are in AOS status

GreenPoint you are in AOS status now. It means even you will be laid off you are still in legal status, until INS will make decision regarding your I-485.

245, Why dont you use your EAD to work elsewhere?

You could do any kind of job and stay in the US and get your GC unless you get an RFE.
Since you were planning to abandon GC if you get a rfe anyway, I think you should proceed this way.

I need a software engineer perm offer.

I filed my case under 245(k), so most like, I\'ll get an interview.
The job market is tough.
I\'d like to pay three month salary if anybody can help.
 
workaround - not sure if true though!

I heard from someone that there is an option to join school, and then work parttime in the lab, developing s.w.
As long as ur lawyer can prove that its the same kind of job, you are saved. please enquire. Im not a lawyer!
