How long one should stay with an employer to transfer H1- Visa to a new employer?

Hi,

My friend got his H1 visa thru Employer XXX and came to US few days ago. He applied for SSN. He got a better full time offer at Employer YYY.

Can he transfer his visa to employer YYY right away? If yes then can he do that without pay stubs? Does he need to stay with employer XXX for sometime then change the employer?

Could he have done the transfer if he had not applied for SSN?

Please suggest...

---- no he cannot get H1 transfer as he has no recent pay stubs, let him work 2-3 months with employer XXX then he can transfer H1
