How long it is taking to get Expedite US passport recently?

Please check this link. It ranges anywhere from 1 week (my case) to 6 weeks (my wife and daughter). Also it depends if you applied expedited or normal. Both of ours were expedited.

Now they are saying that it could take 3-4 weeks for expedited service (instead of 2-3). I got mine about 3 1/2 weeks after I applied. Of course it could take less time or more time than that depending on your luck and where you are located.

i applied the passport on July 26 for expedite service ( paid $190). I checked the status online on Aug 1 and it shows i applied the passport on routine service. Should i give a call?

You can check your passport status here. You can also sign up for email updates.

I applied last week (expedited service), got an email today saying to expect the passport 2 to 3 weeks after I applied. Have no idea how accurate that will be.

I am supposed to go to oath ceremony on Aug 24. My next travel plan is Sep 12. If I apply for a passport (expedited through an agency), what is the likelihood that I will receive my passport in time (11 business days)?

If this is too risky, should I skip the oath ceremony, follow my travel plans and go to the next ceremony? I wonder when the next ceremony will be.

It may be risky to go for expedited service because it could take longer than 3 weeks. If you are within driving distance of the nearest official passport agency, I would get an appointment there. You can get your passport in a few days if you show proof of imminent travel. Otherwise you may have to spend a little more ($100) and go for one of the third-party rush passport services.

In any case I would suggest not postponing your oath because that could cause quite a delay in completing the process.

I am going to go to NY Passport Agency to apply for a passport on the day of my oath. How soon can I make an appointment? I just tried calling 1-877-487-2778 and the system is too full to handle appointment requests.

Or can I rely on the rush-passport agencies?

When you applied, you requested Expedite Service.

You should receive your passport within 2-3 weeks from the date you applied.
 
I got sworn in on Friday, 24 Aug and applied for passport the same day. Today at 5:30PM I picked up my passport. I used an expeditor in NYC and am absolutely thrilled with their service.

I just got mine back in 15 days with expedited service but no overnight delivery. I am in Texas

I would whole-heartedly recommend the folks at www.rushpassport.com to do your passport. Their fee is not cheap, but they do minimize your anxiety and wait time. When I went to their office on Fri, 24 Aug, I was told to expect my passport in 4 to 6 business days, with the earliest being tomorrow (Thu, 30 Aug). I got a call yesterday (28 Aug) that it was ready. When I picked it up, the original NC was also there with my new passport.

Please review the info on their website carefully. It is quite simple, really. 2 money orders - one for $127.00, one for $30.00, application, photos, itinerary, copy of ID and original NC.

USPS gets the $30.00 money order. The $127.00 along with photo, application, photos and original NC goes into a sealed envelope addressed to DEPT OF STATE ******AFTER****** you sign the application in front of the USPS clerk.

You then go drop off this sealed envelope to RushPassport.com office (if you don't live in NYC I suppose you can Fed/Ex it).

They are reliable and over-deliver and I commend them for extremely fabulous service.

I believe they even have 1 day service -- you submit it on Mon, you will receive passport on Tue by 5PM.

Anxiety, what anxiety? I am sure this kind of service is useful for people with extra money to spend (more money than time). Otherwise there are ways to get the passport office to expedite your passport if you have proof of travel. Anyway, could you share what was the fee that rushpassport charged you?
