Hi guys, I'm on the same path as you guys are on, but I screwed up my case a little. My wife is USC and I'm on H1 status and my status is till Jan'2007. While submitting my AOS package I didn't submit my EAD, I just submitted my AP with other forms thinking that I anyways have work authorization (H1). Now I heard that AP will be of no use, if it's not used in conjunction with EAD. My thinking was, I'll travel on AP and come back and work on H1, but now I hear, once I enter US with AP, my H1 status will be gone. I'm planning to go to India in Dec. Since I don't have my H1 stamped and it's difficult to get a date in Chennai Consulate, I'm screwed
.. So, to make up, i'm thinking of applying for EAD now, but I don't have any receipt number or anything to base my EAD now. Can I just drop my EAD in the box like other forms or apply online immediately. If I apply now how USCIS will connect this broken string. Please give me some ideas to proceed.
