How long does it take to get Biometrics?

Hi, I sent my papers for AOS at the beginning of August, I haven't received any notice but I saw they cashed the checks. I expect to receive the notice this week. My question is, with the number included in the notice will I be able to check when my biometrics appointent will be, or should I only see it in the written notice? And, how long usually takes to have biometrics done after sending the papers? Thanks!!

Usually you get the notice within a month.
So nothing to worry about even if it doesn't come in the mail this week.
And no, you can't check that from online status.

Oh, and how many days in advance will they let me know when my biometrics appointment is? I'm just confused because I have seen from the threads that biometrics ocurs not so long after sending the papers? The reason why I ask is because I have to travel and I do not know if I sent my paper at beginning of august... will it be probable that I get my biometrics appointment sometime in September? thanks.

Don't worry about your travel.
ASC offices usually have an open day when they take walk-ins.
Should you miss your appointment, just go to the following open day (NYC has Wednesdays).
It's also stated on the notice.

It's a matter of simple arithmetic calculation - you already know the date that you applied. When the notice arrives, you just count the difference in days between these dates --- that will give you the number of days required to wait for the FP notice(and the subsequent appointment).

Sorry, can somebody help me to calculate when my biometrics appointment could be? Application was received on August 8. One more question, if I receive a bio appointment, does it mean papers are complete and good? Thanks!!!
Nancy.

Estimate based based on your Notice date You should receive your Biometrics appt. notice some time between August 31st - Sept 10. Thats providing you dont have any RFE's.

Usually receiving Biometrics appt. is a good sign things are moving alone, but NOT 100%, once Biometrics are complete another 2-3 weeks following the Bimetrics appt. you should receive an interview notice, once that comes you are in th ehome stretch.

have you looked at the first thread in this forum?
Titled AOS INTERVIEW TIMELINE

Also Look at my signature and timeline below it will give you an idea.

Everyone has a different case some move fast depending on what service center processes your Application other take longer.

The notice is....a notice. A piece of paper.
The appointment is a date/time/place where&when you have to show up. And of course they're different (like a week in advance).

HAH ! Addie, I think you're the exception, not the rule :D

Listen (Addie), did you decide to delay your interview by a couple of weeks so you could get your unconditional card or are you going as scheduled?? Since it's so close, I wonder if they'll still just give you the 2-year conditional card or give you an Upgrade...?

As I said if typical case out of a good Service center 2-3 weeks after completing Biometrics Intrview notice should arrive ( usually 60 days prior to Interview.

Thanks for asking :)
We decided will go ahead and go to our scheduled interview, I would hate to reschedule ti and have something happen to delay our case for months.
We will ask the IO about getting our unconditional GC. Aftr all we have a bay girl, and have a baby boy on the way with the interview only 2 weeks short of our 2 year anniversary I think our chances are good to get the unconditional GC. fingers crossed :)

I think you have mentioned this before. Unfortunately, this is a matter governed by federal statute. Generally speaking, statutes tend to not bend even a tiny bit --- unless case law interprets it differently. To my knowledge, there has been no modifications/exceptions made.

2 weeks, even 2 days, are not a consideration. Neither is having a child together. I understand how you feel about this and it may seem counterintuitive, but that is how it is.

The officer has no authority to grant you that --- not a discretionary matter. If in fact the officer does grant it to you, it would be a serious mistake on the part of the officer.

Just letting you know the legal position on this. On a personal level, I would be very happy for you if it happens ---- but technically impossible, perhaps possible through human error. USCIS has a history of instances where they ignored the law.

I agree. If I were you, I'd seriously consider postponing the interview. You could tell them you will not be able to attend the interview for 2, maybe 3 weeks for any reason. They have been pretty fast rescheduling (even twice in a row). I know the I-751 is not a big problem, especially for you (you must have tons of docs)....but still, I'd avoid it if I could.

Thanks for answering... this website is the best!!! I want to ask you ... also... how many days in advance could I receive the Biometrics notice (prior to the appointment)? Thanks!!
