How long does it take to get a RECEIPT for H1 renewal?

Hi,

I have a month before my H1 expires.

My corporate lawyer is saying that After H1 renewal is filed, it takes upto 2-3 months before you get a receipt from INS.

As per the lawyer,
Not the actual document, just the receipt takes months.
This is un heard of for me and i very much doubt that information.

Still wanted to reconfirm from you guys because i have only a month left on my H1.

If this is true, Is there premium processing for renewal?

It should be a week to 10 days to get the reciept notice. One of my colleague applied in Jan-03 and got his reciept notice in a week.
Probably your lawyer is giving a maximum time it may take to get the notice.
I think you should be fine.
 
My 8th year H-1B extension was filed with VSC 02/19/2003 (premium processing). Got the EAC# via e-mail on 02/21/2003 with a receipt date of 02/20/2003.
 
fee for premium processing ?

Could you pl let me know how much you/your company paid for premium processing. How much is the normal fee.
Do you have to pay extra fee (apart from regular fee) for premium processing.
How many days it takes to get the H1 B approval from the day you send application.
Can we apply for Premium processing from India also.
