Dear gurus,

I've been reading this forum for a long time, admiring and now I have a question. Do you have any idea of how long does it take for the completed name check to reach TSC from the FBI? My I-485 receipt date is Dec 2004 (EB2,NIW, not retrogressed), and when my case became past the processing dates, I called TSC using POJ trick. They told me that my name check is pending. Since I work in the govermental scientific entity, I asked my supervisor to write a letter to William Hooton, assistant director, FBI records management division and ask to expedite. Someone from that office called my supervisor today (3 days after that got a request) and said that the name check is completed (but did not say when, althogh I assume now). I called TSC right away and they have no clue. So when do you think they'll get the info? Could it be that actually the name check was completed a while ago, but is lost in between these 2 agencies?

Thanks a lot,

yes

Very interesting question indeed. I was in the similar situation. The very same day my namecheck cleared and FBI uploaded these data to USCIS, my wife was issued an RFE. However, this can just be a coincidence.

Someone mentioned 6-8 weeks timeframe, at the same time there are indications this timeframe could be just a few day.

Thanks for replying. Did you call TSC to find out whether they have you name check results? Do you know what's holding your case at this point?

Hello, ksy,
could you please tell me what is the POJ trick? I am in a similar condition. I tried to call TSC last week. They just let me wait for one month for the referral result.

drhe: the trick is when you call to 1800 number, listen to the recorded message (exactly the same that is online) for your SRC number and then it will give you the option to proceed further (by choosing 3). Next choose option 4 (if you filed several petitions and beleive your case is separated). This will connect you to TSC directly.

No, FBI informed my employer when the namecheck cleared. As for what is holding my case now, I have no idea. I will try to call TSC tomorrow, It might me RFE for my wife, which is received by TSC only yesterday Oct 24th.

Congratulations and all the best for your I485 petition.
My 485 petition is also struck in the name check. I was wondering if you could give me the mailing address for Mr Hooton. ( I was able to get the general FBI address and 'am not sure if that is what you used).
Thanks in advance.

KSY:
What really happens there is even though the name check is completed the field office of FBI NNCP sends the results to the DHS Headquarters. It is the responsibility of the Headquarters to make that information available to the TSC.
What might happened in your case is your name check must have completed and TSC is just not able to see that information. It does not take days as I believe. It is file sharing between the systems.
So followup with the Headquarters and TSC and also Field office.
This would take a hrs time to get sorted out if we get all the required people.

Well

Now there all indications that NC reults transmission takes less than a day.

KSY,

even though you have recd a reply - FBI will definitely send you a written reply with exact dates etc, take that reply and send it to TSC with a expedite request directly to the director - it helps in the case

I just called TSC using the POJ trick. I was warned by a lady that I was not supposed to call this phone number because my case was filed through an attorney. Without any more explaination, I was hang up. What a frustrating thing.
