How long does it take for case status to be available?

I recently got my Wife's receipt with the case number. However the online case status reports that the number is not valid. I then checked and found that it says the same thing for around 26000 case numbers before her.

How long does it take nowadays for the online case status to be available?

It could take anywhere between 1 -3 weeks before you can observe online activity on your wife's application. It took me a week from the time I received my Notice of Action (NOA) before I was able to track my case status online.

Kindly see the 2010 May N-400 Tracker thread. We trying to collate all May applicants's information into an Excel spreadsheet for easy tracking of application progess. I would appreciate if you could you kindly share your wife's application details such as District Office, Where the application was mailed to (Phoenix, AZ or Lewisville, TX), the Date the Application was mailed, Date Application was received by USCIS, Notice date and the date the Notice of Action was received as a signature line to your profile.

Took me exactly 15 days. (From the day I got the email/sms notification with the receipt number until I was able to add it to my online portfolio). So be patient and keep trying.
 
Anything changed with uscis recently. When I did my natz in October09, I was able to use the case number as soon as I got my noa receipt. I got my noa pretty quick too.

My wife do is atlanta. I will add her case details to the excel sheet.

DO: Dallas, Texas

It too me 29 days from time of receipt of NOA. I have biometric appointment on June 14. My application was initially received on April 21, 2010.
