How long certificate of good conduct is valid for?

Guys,
how long is certificate of good conduct is valid for?
I'll have to get one for my citizenship interview which is 1 month 20 days away.
I don't want to get it too soon and then sent back to bring a new one.

The Certificate of Good Conduct may be called differently in different states and by various law enforcement agencies. The most common name is the Criminal Background Check. The document can be obtained on different levels of government and will reflect only the geographical area covered by the authority. For instance, the Certificate of Good Conduct that you might get from a PD in Manhattan will only cover Manhattan area. So it is best to check with the Immigration Authorities to determine which document they do need.

If they will require a Federal check you might be out of time due to the fact that it may take up to eight (8) weeks to perform this search.

When it comes to the exp. Date of the certificate it has none. However, different authorities will set their own time periods during which the certificate should be issued, this can vary from three (3) to six (6) months.

Usually 6 months from the date it was issued. Thats how it is for U.S Visa applicants that need to get police certificates. I am assuming they follow the same standard.
 
How does one get such certificate of good conduct anyway?

It is a certificate of no bad conduct or indeeed some good conduct like
you save several people from a burning house?

60 days in New York city.

This is not a requirement.But some officers may ask you to get it.It's better to be prepared.It takes 2 weeks to get it and cost $30.You have to go to Police headquater(Police Plazza) located behind city hall.From Brooklyn,take 4or 5 Trains to Brooklyn bridge.R,N or Q trains to City hall. A,or c train to Chambers street.
