how long can stay out of the U.S. with h1b petition approved

hi, guys

I have a question about h1b, I searched the internet for 2 days and can not find the answer. Hope you can help me out.

A US company file the h1b petiton for me and I have got the h1 petition approval which is valid from Oct 1, 2006 to Sept 30, 2009. But now I have to stay in Canada for some personal reasons until Nov 2007

My question is can I start to work in the U.S. from Dec. next year with this h1b ?

Any when should I go to the consular to get the h1b visa stamp? Before Oct 1 this year or next year before I begin to work in the US? And I general how long the h1b visa stamp is valid?

----only if the employer need you and employer has not cancelled your H1 petition

---- you can get the h1 visa stamped next day when you get H1 approval notice,H1 visa stamp is valid till H1 approval notice
