My mother won the DV-2005 lottery. Her case number is EU4xxx, which is a low number, and I would expect her consular interview to be around October/November 2004.
The problem is that I need to sign the affidavit of support for her. In order to do that I need to be a permanent resident. My employment based I-485 is still pending, and recently it was transferred to Miami for an interview. I have not received an interview notice yet, and my best guess is that my interview would be sometime between October - January. From reading other people experiences, I probably won't get the passport stamp at the interview, and there may be a delay of a couple more months before I get my I-551 stamp.
So you see, I need my mother's consular interview to be delayed to ensure that I have my green card by the time she goes for her interview. How long can she wait to send the reply to the notice letter? Can she wait until November or later to send the reply, or will this jeopardize her chances of getting and interview at all?
Any ideas?
