How long are rush US passports valid for?

I may need to use a Passport Agency, but I'm concerned if the passport will be different from a regular one, because I know in other countries such rush passports you get in a day are only valid for a few months.

For anyone who has used an agency to get a passport in a hurry (due to travel within 14 days), how long is your US passport valid for?

You get the same passport at the regional passport agencies, which is valid for 10 years.

And passports for children under 14 are valid for 5 years only. Same as std service.

And is it true that the new passports now have a radio-frequency chip in them? Does anyone have that?

Yes its built into the passport. Its more of a magnetic strip like the credit card or green card.

So that it can be 'swiped' at entry/exit points at the borders.

I just got my new passport 3 days ago, It doesnt have any chips or mag strips. Though on the application it said any passport issued in 2005 and beyond may have biometrics chips.

Thanks, pinto19. It's good to hear there's no chip (RFID) because I read the same on the application too.

the rush passport is more expensive ( I think 60 USD more to get it within 4 days). don't you know that money can buy almost everything in the US?

regarding the RFID chips, I think it has its positive side and negative one.
the country is in need of security improvement and I have no problem with the government knowing whether I have been to Europe or South East Asia. didn't you guys list all your foreign travel on the N-400 b4 becoming citizens? we all told border officer where we have been and for how long upon entry to the US, remember? we all let the INS know our new addresses when we moved!.... it's good to have that apply to all americans so they can feel a little bit of what we experienced!
