what happens after I get my labor certificate from the
department of labor. i think that after you get the labor, you file for
the 485 and the 140 simultaneously. After filing these forms, what
happens?

how long until you get the ead?
do you get the EAD?
can you switch jobs after you get the EAD?
how long until you get the gc from the date of filing the gc?

I am from the south-east usa

please let me know if this is clear

Thanks.

Actually all your questions have been answered here a couple of times over if you search around.

1) you can only file I-485 if a visa number is available at that time (currently that will not be the case for example in EB-3)
2) If you can file I-485, if you want EAD and AP you have to file for the at the same time (it is not automatic that you get them unless you file them).
EAD takes 1-3 months after filing
3) Technicaly you can switch jobs but what if your I-140/I-485 gets denied then? You have to leave and you abandoned your H-1B. Better wait for I-485 pending 180+ days and use AC-21. This is complicated matter and you better read up on this first.
4) If all goes smooth you might have GC 6-18 months after filing I-140/I-485. If not...take a guess....

Can you point me to some reading material

What is AC21?

What search keywords shud i use?

Is there a good central store for this information...

Thanks for your reply. I am currently in EB2 category

To use AC21 your I-140 must be approved and the I-485 pending for 180 days. (American Competitiveness in the 21st Century)
The jobs also must be the same or similar to what was filed in your labor certification.
You are in EB-2 catagory so visa numbers as of now are not retrogressed.
What this means for you is that you can file I-140, I-485, EAD and AP all at the same time. The sooner the better. Retrogression may hit other catagories soon.
