Hi, I got my GC about a year back. How much longer do I wait to apply for citizenship? I thought this was 4 more years but I saw someone claiming that the wait was only 2 years. Is this true? I have spent 8 years in the US before GC. I am orginally from India. Any comments? - thanks

all employement based GC folks to be eligible to apply, will need to wait until 5 years as per rule...

I dont know of any categories who can apply within 2 years of GC.

I heard that GC based on marriage to citizen can apply within 3 years.

That's correct, if you are married to and living with a US citizen, you qualify for citizenship 3 years after GC approval.

Provided you have also been married for three years.

What if you have been married to US citizen for 5 years, the GC was granted/approved only last year (on the 4th year) and then the divorce was filed?? Is that person still eligible to apply for naturalization 3 year after the GC approval??? Thanx in advance.

Do you mean that in the 4th year you got GC with no conditions?
If you received a conditional GC right after your marriage then your clock starts on the approval date of your conditional GC....
