How late I can file my green card

Hi,

I came to US on Mar 2002 and i was in B1 till Jun 2002. Then I went to India and came back in Jul2002 in H1B. My first H1 was upto Feb 2005. Then i got my H1B extended for the second term and this is valid till May 2007.

1) With this i am going to be in H1B for five years. Will i get extension for one more year?

2) Still i have not filed my green card. I want to know untill what time i will be eligible to file my greencard. I heard that i will not be able to file if my H1B-Visa period is less than 11/2 years.

1) you have extension by 1 more year.
2) you can file anytime. But if you are serious about GC, safe bet is filing LC(PERM) at least 365 days before H1 expiration.
