How is your A# generated??

When you file your I-485 application and you did fill your A# in the form based on your I-140 Approval Notice. Will INS assign you a new different A# in your I-485 receipt notice from your I-140 Approval Notice ?

When you file your I-485 application and you do not fill your A# in the form. Will INS assign you the same A# in your I-485 receipt notice as shown in your I-140 Approval Notice?
 
I think A # is issued with your I485 filing receipt and that is your Alien #. A #'s are not generated with I140 unless you had a A # from a prior I485 application.
 
The Alien # is issued with the I-140. I am not a concurrent filer. My A# was issued before I submitted I-485. For concurrent filers, you could say it is issued with the I-485.

I have questions regarding this A#, too. I am not a concurrent filer either. I didn't get a new A# in my I140. But I did get a new one with my I485 receipt. My company's lawyer used the A# from my H-1b to file I140. And the A# from H-1b was from my OPT card.
