Letter from former collegue shud be on any letter head ?? Can u elaborate more

It can be just a simple letter stating that persons name, company name and dates worked etc..

Does the collegue recommending the letter shud be part of the organisation @ that point of time or he/she can be ex-employee , but was part of organisation when I was also part of oragnisation.

a colleague can also be somebody who worked for same company as urs @ at that time. if that colleague can provide u an affidvait then nothing like it.
