How getting extension of B1 stay will affect getting H1b visa(very Urgent)

I have 10 yr multiple entry visa issued on 13 march 2006. had been to US 4 times. 7 april 2006-11 april 2006
9 Nov 2006-29 January 2007
18 june 2007-24july 2007
30 july 2007-presently in US
my stay expires on 29 january 2008. I am here for my residency interviews. Result of residency match will be out on 17 march 2008. If got matched I will file for H1b to start my Internal medicine residency.
QUESTION- If I apply for extension now to stay upto 17 march, will it affect my chances of getting H1b visa later on in june?
