How early you can leave the company

Let say, if you get employement letter and go to consulate and get your interview done successfully, how early you can leave the company.
I guess, at least you have to enter US successfully and can leave
anytime after that.
Am I correct here? Or, we have to wait for plastic card?
I am trying to find post dependency.

Thanks

Marta is correct..

You have entered a contract for "Permmanent Employment" which is atleast One Year. A mean employer can report the breach to INS.

There is just one loophole - If there is some "drastic change" in the business or personal condition Employer can let employee go and vice versa. Employers have used that to fire people on change in business condition, economy etc

Helpful Document

Thanks Marta - document was good.

When one is opting for CP, person is more or less secure as soon he/she enters in US. But to be on safer side, you want to plan ahead to prevent hassles in future.
As long intent is good, you are safe.

Only problem with CP is that you can\'t control process in consulate and POE and can not argue much (be it based on law, etc.)
Once in country, if you play card properly you are safe, plus you can avoid future hassle.

I was seeing on immihelp site. The post - POE activities they mentioned gives bit different picture. (link is down so I can\'t pass URL)
Also, after post Sep 11, INS will be looking for people who are entering in country for one reason and abendaning it soon (like enter in country for a job and leave that job is equivalent to student entering in US for education and not joining that Univ).

I-9 form is mandatory?

It seems one of the MUST step after post entry is
"you should ask your employer to give you I-9 form (Employment Eligibility Verification Form) and you should fill it".

What this form is all about? What will happen if you don\'t fill this form?

No Title

Technically, it is a responsibility of the HR department to keep this form updated for all employees. It is mandatory for all employees. It just gives your status - citizen, alien authorized to work, etc. If the INS decides to audit the company, they might get a fine if their files are not well kept.

I think you should inform your HR that your status has changed and they will need to update your I-9 and enter your A# there.
