How early can we file H1 extension

Hello Gurus,

My 6yr H1-B period will be expiring on Mar'07.
How early can I file for H1 extension since I have got my I-140 approved.
Is it possible to file for H1 extension 6 months in advance(ie Sep'06).
Any inputs/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

------------- yes one can file H1 extension 6 months advance of I-94 expiry date OR extension must reach USCIS BEFORE I-94 expires
Any inputs/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
