I salute you all and congrats for winning the coveted dvlottery, I'm one of them and in a dilema. My case # is 42xxx, on F1 valid visa and only want to do AOS.
when I filled the initial electronic entries I was married according to our customs, two months later somebody eloped with my wife. (Feb. 2009).
According to the KCC notification letter "please notify the Kentucky Consular Center of any change in address, addition or deletion of any family members and any other information which you believe may affect your application"
How will I communicate this to KCC? Now how can I define my marital status?
Please give your comments/opinions/ideas/experiences.
Thanks for taking time to read this.
Yours,
Utterly confused Kenyan.

if you are actually officially divorced, you fill out the forms indicating your new status (divorced). You will have to produce a divorce certificate.

Samaki, after your wife eloped what steps did you take to terminate the marriage? As it is not usual for the termination of customary marriages to be adjudicated by courts I am guessing there is no divorce certificate. You may have to swear an affidavit attesting to the termination of the marriage and have it notarised. As to whether this would be acceptable evidence in the States is something you will have to consult a lawyer about. Just my two cents.

The marriage was never adjudicated in court thus there is no paper work to prove our marriage.
