How do we know if FBI name check was completed?

I just recently got my GC and I believe that was due to the revised FBI name check procedure, but not sure. In light of this, how do we know whether or not the FBI name check has actually been completed?

Why do you care, if your GC is approved and you have not committed a crime?

I got nothing to worry about as I have no criminal record nor would there be any derogatory data about me. However, there may be others out there with the same first, last and middle name as mine that do and if the fact that I was stuck in name check for 20+ months is any indication, I suspect that there are quite a large number of those people.

I think knowing whether the name check was actually completed/cleared would give those of us in this situation some sense of closure and not wonder whether something might go sideways in the future. :)

Stop worrying. If they find records matching your name, they will read the files closely to determine if it is you or not you (which is one of the reasons it takes so long for some people).

re:

silee77,

thats a good point you raised, and recently i am sure many people are in the same boat. i wish the namecheck thing was more streamlined and they sent a letter once it was cleared or something...

anybody else can shed some light on this?

It is a very good questions.....I think at some point USCIS will shed some light on it...but I wont put my money on USCIS/FBI sending a letter as and when namecheck get cleared. Im planning to do an infopass every 6 months or so...

I'm sure rthey will complete our namechecks jus t in time for us to apply for citizenship... and start the namecheck over again.

re:

good one nelsona.

will infopass give out namecheck status info, or that will say "we cannot disclose it"?
