How do i know, If my employer has applied for my I-485

Hello gurus,

Its been 4 months since my employer applied for my I-485 , i haven\'t received any information regarding the same from INS or my employer. Actually after 2 months , INS sent back the complete packet to me becas of insufficient documentation ( I-140 Copies were not enclosed). Later my employer said , he enclosed i-140 copies and mailed it back to INS. Since then we haven\'t heard anything about my application. How do i find out if my application is being processed at all or my employer is fooling me around?

I think INS normally does not return entire package

In my case, the INS said that my lawyer had not
sent my I-140 along with my EAD application.
What they did was to send me a receipt of my
I-485, AP and EAD applications and then send
me an RFE asking me to send the approved I-140.
After my lawyer sent this, the EAD was approved.

Have seen lots of other cases where the INS has sent
people an RFE requesting more info
but have not heard of the INS sending back the entire
packet. ( I am not expert or lawyer, this is just my
limited experience)

I think there is no other way for you to find out about I485
being applied, except for you to ask your attorney.

The attorney is the one who gets the receipt notice. So, the
only time you will hear back from INS is when they send you a
courtesy copy of FP Notice. Till then you won\'t know if INS has
received your application (and they are processing it) or your
attorney is just sitting on your file.

I think you can call up difficult INS number and talk to IIO to find (using Name since you obviously

As Bhagwan wrote, You can talk to an IIO and get your case status giving your FirstName, LastName and DateOfBirth. Any one waiting for receipts can do this. For matter of fact when I was waiting for my receipts I did it twice.

If your information is entered into INS system you will know the information, but if your file is sent recently and still wiaiting in the mail room then you won\'t find it on INS system. Note that October mailers didn\'t get their receipts yet!

Email me your details about I-140 SRC# etc....I have means to find out if they applied for 485 or not. Also, when you received the whole package did you read the contents to see if attaching I-140 was your problem? Email me privately at freethinker99@hotmail.com
