How do I know if i my name check is requested by immigration dept?

I went for my finger printing on 02/28/06. After that there is LUD change on 03/06/06(strangely..the message is not changed).

According to FBI, they sent results on the same day..ie., 02/28/06.

I am not sure..if immigration requested for my name check or not??

I called Immigration Service person and they are not willing to tell anything...

I will keep trying to get answer from them..

Is there any way to know..if immigration requested for my name check?

Please suggest.

There will be no message change following fingerprinting only LUD will change.
If you do "name check" search on the forums you will find an email and/or a phone number that you can call FBI and request for namecheck details.

I called 202-324-2399 and they asked me to send an e-mail to fbinncp@ic.fbi.gov.

I sent an e-mail to them..
I don't have any hopes that I will receive a reply..

Hoping my name check will be cleared in few days..

In the mean time, I will try calling Immigration dept and hoping i get a good response this time.

there's a fax number too.
I have received a response from the fax but not from the email.
Try finding the fax number and faxing the same info you emailed.

Is it at the time after we apply for 485/after finger printing is done??

I am also in same boat.I appeared Bio code3 on 11th March and USCIS didn't update my online status.you said FBI had sent results on same day after ur FP?How do we know abt this...

They will tell u if they have sent FP results or nor?

fp lud/msg change

after first fp in 2004, my lud and msg changed. message changed to 'results of ur fp were received on ------. processing has resumed on ur case'. after biometrics, just the lud changed.

lud changed for wife's application after biometrics as well.

dont know if namecheck is cleared or not. never bothered to find out.
 
These questions were answered already, you can make a search and find tons of info.

1) NC has nothing to do with FP, they are separate checks, NC initiates soon after filing I-485 (one day to one month) and FP notice is mailed when they think you may be approved within next 15 months, if this not happens then they mail one more FP notice like happened to me.
My NC was initiated one month after I-485 receiving (oct 2003), 1st FP done one year later (oct 2005), 2nd FP done after 1st expired (Feb 2006).

2) 'security check' is I think 3 checks, one is name/DOB (date of birth) and this one takes longest time, one more is IBIS (not sure on spelling) and takes short time (maybe minutes) but expires soon and has to be retaken when close to approval, and I do not remember what is the 3rd one, I think also takes short time. Search for more info.

3) how to find out about name check? earlier FBI replied to faxes and e-mails, now they stopped doing it and only way you can find out is to ask your senator/congressman to contact FBI on your NC status. I tried infopass, you may be lucky and get this info if the officer will be nice. For my last infopass visit the officer refused giving me any info.
you may also try Natl customer Serv Center but they may just give you status (pending) but not the date when it is initiated.

I also have pending I-485 based on approved I-140-NIW. Our first finger printing is done. I saw they interviewed you. What is that for? Is it a routine procedure?

Do they call the interview after the FP? My wife is in INDIA. She is planning to stay another 3 months there. Our PD is not current though. It might take 2/3 months to be current.

Should I worry about anything? I will also be leaving for a month from May 1st to June 1st.

does anyone knows who to contact for name check. please be specific. I call the FBI West Virginia but they are only for FingerPrint. Secondly, does anyone knows who to contact in local office in to find out weather the name check report comes back to the local office in los angeles.

Interviewing is normally done when they transfer your case to a local office, otherwise - no interview like happened to my colleague with NIW-140.
I do not think they send FP notice if your PD is not current - however I am not sure since mine was always current.
The danger of being absent in USA is, I received both FP notices about 7-10 days before FP date, so if you are not in USA - you must come back immediately to attend FP, otherwise they may considet your I-485 abandoned.
I had 1st FP, then interview, then 2nd FP...so interview was inbetween two FPs...

make infopass and ask the officer in your local office about the status of your NC.
If status is pending - ask for written proof of this.
Then contact your local congressman/senator and provide him the copy of the proof and ask to check your status with FBI (if your PD is current).
 
Not sure if this helps, but ..

On the FBI web site, they have clearly stated the ways they can expedite a name check (--- only via a request from USCIS).

USCIS will only try to expedite it if you are
-- about to leave for military service
-- are about to age-out
-- due to a federal case
-- due to urgent humanitarian reasons

FBI site says senatorial or congressional requests would not help.

YMMV.
