how "current" the criminal records (police certifcate)?

Anyone knows how "current" the criminal records (police certifcate) should be?
Should I get it within a year before the interview, within 6 or 3 months? does anyone know?

6 months form the contry where you resident now; and if you have previously lived in other country(ies) you can ask for it when you what, this they have told me when I asked in Embassy, but its better that you call US Embassy where you would have interview;
