I am a Permanent Resident. I have a son who is 10 year old. I had applied for his Green Card but he was not able to come to stamp to US. Earlier he used to come on H4 and Advanced Parole(AP). Now the H4 and AP is expired. His Green Card approval letter is with me but how would he come to US for stamping if he does not hold any visa or AP?

If his 485 was approved, he should receive his actual green card shortly. Minor children do not need fingerprinting like adults after 485 approval. Wait for USCIS to mail his card to your address. You can also verify the status online by entering 485 approval notice number.
Once you receive his card have it sent over to him.

How long does he have after he gets approval letter to come and stamp passport?
He does not need passport stamping unless:
1) He is in the US and needs official documentation of his status,
2) Wants to travel out of US and return,
3) Wants to seek employment.
For children USCIS usually starts card ordering process as soon as the case is approved. Stmaping is not a prerequisite for card ordering for children.

I read in this forum that only after you fill up form I-89 the plastic card ordering process is initiated. In that case, how can my 10 year old will get his plastic card?
(Not that I doubt your answer, but could you post some links where I can verify this information?)
I agree that PP stamping is necessary only if you travel before you get actual plastic card. ( some people argue that it is the stamp on PP that verifies that you are a PR)
